Crocheted baskets: accessories for home and street. Crocheted basket made of thick rope and linen thread

You can crochet not only clothes, but also interesting toys, interior decorations, funny souvenirs.

Crochet baskets made of cord or thick yarn are very popular today. A useful accessory is convenient for storing various little things that you need to keep at hand: keys, lighters, hairpins, etc. Do not rush to go to the Ikea store - you can create a basket with your own hands.

DIY knitted basket

The basket is an indispensable household accessory and a bright interior accent. In addition to aesthetic pleasure and the realization of your creative potential, with it you will get a lot of advantages:

Amateur summer residents can use a wicker basket for picking berries, and mushroom pickers for quiet hunting. However, in this case, it is necessary to cover the bottom with a cloth or thick paper, otherwise the thing will quickly get dirty and will no longer be as elegant as before. It is best to take such a basket for picking berries or fruits that are hard and do not crumple (for example, apples, pears or gooseberries). But for currants or raspberries, you should not use it.

A knitted or wicker basket will look great in a Provence-style kitchen (the so-called "rustic style"), combined with lace curtains, embroidered towels and other hand-made home textiles. She will make the kitchen cozy and beautiful.

What you need to work

A wicker basket can be made from thick rope (for example, using the macrame technique), and a knitted basket can be made from good quality yarn. Before reading the crochet master class, you need to prepare materials for the basket. Woolen threads can be of different colors, it all depends on the desire of the craftswoman. If the basket will have a round shape, it is more convenient to take circular knitting needles. Also for work it is necessary to prepare:

You can use other materials for weaving or knitting. The main thing is that they are sufficiently dense and durable. The material of the handle must be especially reliable so that the basket can be carried.

Step by step master class

Knitting is now at the peak of popularity, so there are many suitable patterns on the Internet. The basket can be of any shape: oval, semicircular and even rectangular. Of course, knitting such a product is much easier than a jacket or scarf. However, it is better for novice craftswomen to choose the simplest scheme with a detailed description. Then it will be easy to tie the desired thing and avoid mistakes. For crocheting or knitting a basket, it is best to look for a pattern and description on specialized Internet sites. The schemes presented in women's magazines often contain errors or typos that significantly hinder work. So, to make a basket, you need:

  • According to the scheme, tie the bottom of the basket. If the thing is not intended for decoration, but solely for practical purposes (storing things, harvesting in the country or mushrooms), the bottom can not be knitted, but made of dense fabric or plywood and then millet attached to a knitted base;
  • Next, proceed to the manufacture of the walls. The easiest way to do this is with the circular knitting technique;
  • Finished walls and bottom are connected to each other. If the bottom is also knitted, it is sewn to the walls by hand, with threads to match the yarn. If the bottom is made of another material, it can be "planted" on glue;
  • The handle is knitted. It's best to crochet. The handle should be of medium length. Too long will tear easily, and too short will make the basket uncomfortable to use. The length should be such that the product can be easily transferred from place to place and used for its intended purpose;
  • The handle is securely sewn to the basket with a hidden seam - threads to match the fabric.

Steps to create a basket

How to decorate the finished product

Here are some options for decorating a knitted or wicker basket:

Other basket options

You can weave an original basket from old newspapers cut into strips and coated with a special varnish. It can be of any shape, such as square or rectangular. A man who loves to craft will gladly weave baskets from wicker. You can also do crocheting from multi-colored garbage bags cut into strips (the technology will be about the same as knitting rugs in the traditional "grandmother's" way).

A decorative basket-box will be made from strips of colored cardboard- even a child of primary school age will cope with such work. Such a product will look especially impressive if you take cardboard strips of two contrasting colors and interweave them in a checkerboard pattern.

Straw weaving is developed in Belarus. Before work, it must be well dried, trimmed and processed. Such products do not need to be varnished or painted, as the straw is beautiful in itself.

Basket weaving is a unique creative activity: there are no limits to your imagination. When you get comfortable with simple patterns, you can create more complex ones, for example, using the amigurumi technique, and become a real master of this craft! Good luck!

Crochet basket: job description

Bottom

First you need to tie a slip knot, after which we perform 2 in. P..

1 row: 8 s. without n. in the 2nd c. p. from the hook = 8 p..

2 rows: knit 2 half-columns with / double crochet in each loop, sl-st. = 16 p..

3 row: 2 in. p., 1 half-column with / double crochet in the connection loop, 1 half-column with / double crochet in the next loop, * 2 half-column with / double crochet in 1 loop, 1 half-column with / double crochet in the next loop *, from * to *, ss. = 24 p..

4 rows: 2 in. p., 1 half-column with / double crochet in the loop of the connection, 1 half-column with / double crochet in the next 2 loops, * 2 half-columns with / double crochet in 1 loop, 1 half-column with / double crochet in the next 2 loops *, from * to *, ss. = 32 p..

5 rows: 2 in. p., 1 half-column with / throwing into the connection loop, 1 column with / throwing into the next 3 loops, * 2 half-columns with / throwing into 1 loop, 1 half-column with / throwing into the next 3 loops *, from * to * , ss. = 40 p..

6 rows: 2 in. p., 1 half column with / throwing into the connection loop, 1 half column with / throwing in the next 4 loops, * 2 half columns with / throwing in 1 loop, 1 half column with / throwing in the next 4 loops *, from * to *, ss. = 48 p..

Walls

1 row: we will need to knit half-columns with / throw over, capturing the loops that remain when knitting semi-columns with / throwing on the reverse side of the knitting (do not confuse with the front and back slice of the loop!). As a result, we get both walls of each pet. and after knitting the 7th row, we will get 2 parallel tracks along the bottom of the basket.

7 p.: 1 c. p., 1 p. without n. in the 1st p. from the back of the knitting, in the same way we knit the remaining pet. With. without n., ss. = 48 p..

8 p.: 2 c. p., 48 semi-columns with / throwing, ss. = 48 p..

9 p.: 1 c. p., 48 p. without n. behind the back wall, starting from the connecting pet., ss. = 48 p..

10 p.: 2 c. p., 48 semi-columns with / throwing, ss. = 48 p..

11 p.: 1 in. p., 48 p. without n., starting with the connecting pet., ss. = 48 p..

12 p.: 2 c. ., 48 semi-columns with/throw, ss. = 48 p..

13 p.: 1 in. p., 48 p. without n., starting with the connecting pet. and grabbing the loops for the back wall, ss. = 48 p..

Pens

14 p.: 2 in. p., 8 semi-columns with / throwing, 7 c. p., skip 5 loops on the basket, after which you need to tie another 19 semi-columns with / throw, 7 in. n. and again skip 5 loops, then 10 half-columns with / throw and sl-st. = 52 p..

15 p.: 1 c. p., 8 p. without n., starting with the connecting pet., after that we proceed to tying the first handle of the 8th s. without n. (do not insert the hook into the loop, we tie it over the handle), 19 s. without n., now the second handle is 8 s. without n., 10 s. without n. = 54 p..

We just have to cut the thread, fasten it and our crochet basket is ready!

We fix the thread and hide the ends by weaving them into loops. If desired, you can also strengthen the sides and sprinkle them with starch.

Square basket: video mk for beginners

Selection of schemes

Today we will look at how to knit a basket from polyester cord. A basket in the house is a very useful thing! You can store anything in it, for example, all sorts of necessary little things, or slippers, or cats (yes, yes! cats love to sleep in baskets!). I decided to knit a hat storage basket on the top shelf in the hallway. There - on this shelf - a lot of items are always collected: scarves, scarves, hats, etc., etc. All this, as a rule, lies in an ugly big pile. And I thought that I need to put things in order there. And you can do this by collecting all these items in one big basket.

So, in the video tutorial, I will knit a fairly large basket, such that it is enough for all hats and scarves. You can knit a basket of any size you need: either smaller or larger. How so? That's how! The size of the basket depends on the size of its base (bottom). The base will be oval. In the lesson we will learn knit ovals of ANY size! You will learn how to correctly add loops on the round sides of an oval and you will be able to independently knit an oval of any size you need. The sides of the basket are knitted without adding loops.

The lid of the basket is knitted in exactly the same way as the base, i.e. first we knit an oval the same size as the bottom of the basket, and then small sides down.

As a small decoration of the basket, we will use color spacers, i.e. rows knitted from a cord of a different color.

For a basket of my size (25x25x45), it took me about 400 m polyester cord, i.e. 2 skeins. I knitted colored rows from the remnants of the cord.

Crocheted, decorate the interior and are used for compact storage of various things. To learn how to knit such products, you need to choose the right material and tools, as well as learn different knitting techniques.

The key to creating beautiful knitted baskets is the right choice of material and tools. It is important to pay attention to the quality of the threads and their width. Depending on the thickness of the yarn, a hook or knitting needles is selected. In addition, additional tools may be required to help simplify the process.

Choice of knitting yarn

Knitted threads for knitting are divided into 2 types:

  • primary,
  • secondary.

The primary thread is balls swept in production from a new fabric. Knitted fabric is cut into even strips using a machine. Thanks to this, the yarn remains of uniform thickness along the entire length. Products from primary material are neat and beautiful. The standard length of such threads in 1 ball is 100 m, the width is from 7 to 9 mm.

The color of the yarn is saturated, without defects. This allows experienced craftsmen to strictly observe color schemes.

The secondary thread is made from scraps of fabric. At garment factories, a lot of cut-off knitwear is left, which is cut into relatively even strips. The width of the thread in 1 skein can vary from 7 to 10 mm. Since the material has already been used before, the threads may have holes, machine stitching, spools or knots. The recycled yarn wound into a ball does not have a standard length.

Most often it is sold in large skeins, more than 110 m or by weight, determining the price for 1 kg. The advantage of recycled yarn is the cost. It is much cheaper than the original one.

In addition, needlewomen have the opportunity to make secondary material on their own by cutting old knitted T-shirts and T-shirts. These threads are often used by novice masters for training. When the skill of knitting baskets is honed, you can purchase more expensive and high-quality yarn.

Hook selection

Baskets made of knitted yarn are more convenient to crochet than knitting. It is important to choose the right tool to work more conveniently. For knitting baskets, hooks from 6 to 8 numbers are most often used. The small size of the tool allows you to knit a dense fabric that will keep its shape.

It will be difficult for beginners to knit tightly at first, calluses may appear on the fingers, and yarn consumption also increases, but in order for the walls of the basket to hold its contents, it is necessary to observe the tension of the thread. When choosing a hook, you need to pay attention not only to its size, but also to the material from which the tool is made.

The table describes the advantages and disadvantages of different tools:

Material pros Minuses
Metal Durable, have a Teflon coating that ensures the thread slides Heavy and cold to the touch
Plastic Beautiful, different colors. Slippery, light Fragile, can break with very tight knitting
Wooden Light, slippery, warm to the touch Sometimes burrs appear on the cut that cling to the thread

There are combination hooks. Their base is made of metal, and the handles are made of wood or plastic. Such tools are pleasant to hold in the hand, they are light and durable. Each needlewoman chooses a hook to her liking. Sometimes you need to try several tools before finding the right one.

Additional materials and tools

In addition to crochet and yarn, knitting baskets may require:

  • Scissors- to cut off the excess.
  • tapestry needles- are needed for sewing threads together or for other purposes.
  • Thick cardboard- to stiffen the bottom of the basket.
  • Tape measure– for measurements.

These materials are not always needed, but it is best to have them on hand.

How to calculate the consumption of knitwear?

You need to count the consumption of threads in order to know exactly how many skeins it will take to create 1 basket. Usually, everything is indicated on the finished diagrams: yarn width, hook sizes, color and consumption. But if you want to knit a product of a non-standard size or shape, you will have to do the calculations yourself.

Before studying the algorithm, you need to pay attention to the following facts:

  • The thinner the yarn, the greater the expense.
  • Tight knitting takes more threads than weak knitting.
  • If you plan a basket with patterns, then you will need more yarn than usual.

There are 2 ways to calculate:

  1. by yarn weight. To do this, first knit a sample, then you need to weigh it on a kitchen scale and calculate its area. After making a pattern of the future product and calculate its area. The following designations can be used for designations: VO is the weight of the sample, PO is the area of the sample, PI is the area of the product. The calculation formula is as follows: (PI x VO) / PO = mass of yarn for knitting.
  2. By metric. During the knitting of the sample, each meter is marked with a knot of bright thread. After finishing knitting. All meters count. The calculation formula for the finished product, where DN is the length of the thread: (PI x DN) / PO = number of meters.

Master class for beginners: the simplest knitted yarn basket

Crocheted knitted yarn baskets are easy to learn to knit. The first work should be as simple as possible, the round shape is considered as such. Creating a light product, a beginner learns to observe proportions, make tight knitting, and also determines the type of instrument. Below is a detailed description of the simplest basket.

Bottom

Knitting starts from the bottom:

When the knitted knitted circle reaches the desired diameter. The thread is not broken, but knitting continues.

Walls

This is the next step in creating a cart:

  1. Knitting continues from the same thread that remained after the formation of the bottom.
  2. It is necessary to knit in a circle without making decreases and increases.
  3. It is important to monitor the uniform tension of the knitting. If the threads are stretched in different parts, then tighter, then weaker, the product will be uneven.

Work on the walls ends when the walls reach the required height. Now you need to fasten the thread with a knot and cut off the excess. The basket can already be considered finished and store various items in it, but many needlewomen prefer to attach handles to the product and equip it with a knitted lid.

Pens

Handles can be tied separately or be part of the walls.

The second option is simpler, since the elements will not need to be sewn:

  1. The thread at the end of knitting the walls can not be disconnected.
  2. The locations of the handles are marked, in the place where there should be an opening, a long arch of air loops is knitted in the next row.
  3. It is important to count the loops so that the handles are the same.
  4. The next row is knitted as usual, and moving on to air loops, knitting is carried out around them.

To make the handles thicker, you need to knit 1 or more final rows.

Lid

The lid is knitted in the same way as the bottom:

  1. You need to start from the middle by typing a chain of 5 air loops.
  2. Gradually, you need to make increments to make the circle more uniform.
  3. The diameter of the lid must be larger than the diameter of the product. It is necessary to take into account the thickness of the walls of the basket and add another 5 - 7 mm.

When the circle reaches the desired size, you need to shape the edges of the lid. To do this, 1-2 rows of single crochets are knitted in a circle, without making increases or decreases.

How to stiffen the finished product?

Crocheted knitted yarn baskets can be made small and large. Larger items are more difficult to shape. High walls can slightly bulge and bend to the side.

To make the baskets stronger, when knitting, you must follow the following recommendations:

  • For work, choose thick yarn and a small hook.
  • It is advisable to knit the walls with patterns, for example, “ticks” or “pigtails” (the description is below). Such knitting will be stronger than simple single crochet columns.
  • You can knit without a pattern, but you will need to weave the yarn in the middle of the rows.

In stores for needlewomen, you can buy a special corset tape. It is usually used for knitting wide-brimmed hats. It is a flexible and resilient plastic rod that can be tied in the same way as yarn. Baskets with tape are reliable and strong.

Basket decoration

The decoration of baskets depends entirely on the imagination of the master.

For decoration most often used:

  • soft lace;
  • beads and beads;
  • rhinestones;
  • satin ribbons;
  • buttons;
  • pom-poms made of yarn or wool;
  • embroidery with thick threads.

It is important to fix the decor well so that when using the basket for its intended purpose, rhinestones or beads do not fall off.

Schemes and description of crocheted baskets for beginners

Crocheted knitted yarn baskets can be crocheted in different styles, as well as give products an unusual shape. Beginners need to familiarize themselves with the basic patterns that will help make products diverse and beautiful. Below are step-by-step descriptions of schemes for popular patterns and basket design options.

Check Mark Pattern

This knitting method makes the basket stronger. It can be used to create small and medium sized items. Any yarn color can be used.

The entire basket is knitted in this way so that the density of the product remains unchanged:

  1. You need to make a chain of 6 air loops and close it into a ring.
  2. The first line is knitted in columns with 1 crochet. You need to make 9 columns, knitting 1 air loop between them.
  3. The second row begins with a double crochet, then a hook is inserted into the air loop and 2 columns with 1 double crochet are knitted in one place. Got 1 tick.
  4. In the future, the checkboxes need to be placed one above the other.
  5. Making increments, the circle is knitted to the desired diameter, for example, 20 cm.
  6. The walls need to be knitted in the same pattern, but I do not increase or decrease.

If the bottom of the basket was 20 cm, then the height of the walls could be 10-15 cm. It is convenient to store creams on a dressing table or other cosmetics in such a basket.

Jacquard technique

This technique allows you to create unusual patterns on the walls of the basket. To select a drawing.

You can use patterns not only for knitting, but also for cross stitching, in which 1 cell - 1 single crochet of a certain color:

  1. The bottom of such baskets is knitted in the classical way.
  2. Moving to the walls, they knit 1-2 rows with single crochets, and then determine the location of the pattern.
  3. To change the color of the thread, the hook is carefully heeded from knitting, leaving loops. The thread of the new color is pulled through them, and the pattern begins to knit.
  4. So that there are no broaches left on the inside, you need to weave a free thread inside the rows.
  5. When the required number of columns is made, the thread is again changed to the main color, and the yarn for the design is woven into rows, until the next color row.

For beginners, it is best to start knitting with this pattern on medium-sized baskets, because small patterns are harder to knit. Any color of yarn can be used, but the classic colors of jacquard are: the main one is brown, the pattern is cream or white. You can store various items in such baskets, jacquard baskets look especially beautiful in the kitchen.

Rectangular model

Baskets of this shape are suitable for storing yarn and knitting tools. The average size of the product: the bottom is 22 cm wide, 35 cm long. The height of the walls is 18 cm.

Yarn color can be any:

  1. Dial a chain of air loops, 22 cm long.
  2. The first row is knitted with single crochet columns. The next rows are also knitted, without increase and decrease, unfolding the product.
  3. When the length of the canvas reaches 35 cm, the thread is not cut off, but the rectangle begins to be tied in a circle.
  4. The walls are knitted in single crochet columns, observing the thread tension.

At the end, the basket can be decorated. She is ready to use.

square model

Square models are created by analogy with rectangular ones. The width and length of the bottom should be the same. Knitting the walls begins with a circular strapping of a square fabric.

Experienced craftsmen recommend not to make the sides too high. For a basket with a bottom of 20x20 cm, a height of 7-10 cm is sufficient. Such products are suitable for storing fabrics, you can roll kitchen towels into rolls and place them vertically in the basket.

Round model

As mentioned above, the round shape is the easiest to perform. This is a description of a larger basket than at the beginning. It can store things or children's toys. To make the frame more rigid, about 10 m of special tape will be required. The approximate size of the basket: width - 40 cm, height - 50 cm.

Any yarn color:

  1. The frame tape should be located not only inside the walls, but also at the bottom. Chains of 10 air loops are connected in a circle. The first row is knitted as usual, and then you need to weave the tape, carefully laying it in a spiral.
  2. Turning to the walls, the tape is cut off and the first row of sides is knitted without it.
  3. Then the ribbon is woven again and knitting continues.
  4. The very last row is knitted without a ribbon.

To make the filled basket easier to move, you can make handles. A detailed description is above.

Basket-box

It is easier to make a small box of knitwear in a rectangular shape. It is best to use the check mark pattern. Approximate product size: width - 10x6 cm, height - 6-7 cm.

Instruction:

  1. Knitting the bottom and walls is similar to a rectangular model.
  2. The lid of the box can be separate (described above) or in the form of a chest. To knit option 2, you do not need to break the thread, but knit it to the corner with the length of the wall.
  3. Knitting continues in the same pattern, making one of the walls longer. It needs to match the width of the box.
  4. In the middle of the edge of the cover you need to knit a loop.
  5. When the lid is closed, mark the middle of the loop on the wall of the basket and sew on a button.

It turned out a small box with a lid on a button. Which will lean back when opened. In such a basket you can store various little things.

Grandma's square

Crocheted knitwear baskets can be made not only whole, but also assembled from fragments:

  1. It is necessary to tie a grandmother's square according to the standard pattern 4 pcs.
  2. The bottom of the basket should be tight. Therefore, it is knitted similarly with a simple square shape. The size should be identical to the walls, for example, 15x15 cm.
  3. The blanks are tied together with single crochet columns. First, all the walls are connected to the bottom, and then fastened together.

The upper edges of the walls are tied with single crochets in 1 row. Such baskets can be used to store any things, except for very small ones. Yarn colors can be combined in 1 blank, or all walls can be made different.

On the last row, the ears of a teddy bear are tied. A semicircular shape is made by increasing and decreasing the number of crochets. It remains to sew buttons in place of the eye and nose.

basket with bow

Baskets can be decorated with bows from a wide satin ribbon. This decoration looks best on small round products. The easiest way: sew on a finished bow.

But you can make special jumpers on the basket, which will include the tape and tie the edges:

  1. After the base of the basket is ready, you need to note the location of the jumpers. The hook is inserted from the inside and a series of columns without a crochet is knitted.
  2. Then they return and knit a narrow rectangle (2x2.5).
  3. The lower edge of the jumper is sewn to the base. On a basket with a diameter of 15 cm, you need to make 6 jumpers.

When everything is ready, you need to take a satin ribbon of a shade suitable for the yarn and insert it into the jumpers, tying the ends with a beautiful bow.

Baskets made of knitted yarn are easy to learn to knit. It is important to choose the right material, use a comfortable hook and try different knitting techniques. Knitting round crochet craftswomen usually start with an Amigurumi ring. To understand how to make it, look at the picture below.

The yarn should be as thick as possible - so the finished product will keep its shape!

  • 1 row: make an amigurumi ring - for this you need to wrap the thread around two fingers, then insert the hook under the first thread and form a loop from the second thread.

Knit in this way 8 tbsp. without n.

When the first row is completed, close the ring conn. Art., pull the free end of the thread and slightly tighten the loop.

  • 2 row: we tie a ring in a circle, knitting 2 tbsp in each loop. without n. and starting a series of air. lifting item. Finish a series of connections. Art. As a result, we get 16 tbsp. without n.
  • 3 row: we make increases in every second loop, that is, we knit 1 tbsp in the first loop. without n., in the second - 2 tbsp. without n. and so on. At the beginning of the row, do not forget 1 air. n. for lifting, and we finish the connection. Art. It turns out 24 loops.

  • 4 row: air. lifting, then we make increments only in every third loop - 1 tbsp. without n., 1 st without n., 2 tbsp. without n. We close a series of connections. Art. As a result, we have 32 loops.
  • 5 row: in the 5th row we evenly add 8 tbsp. without n. As usual, start a series of air. n., and finish the connection. Art. We get 40 loops.
  • 6 row: we add in a circle evenly another 8 tbsp. without n. Total 48 loops.

  • 7 row: from this row we begin to knit the wall of our basket. To get a more relief row of Art. without n. knit only under one loop of the previous one. We do not make additions. We start a series of air. n., and finish the connection. Art.

  • 8 row: knit st. without n. around the circumference under both loops of the pigtail into each loop. You don't need to add anything.
  • 9 row: we knit in the same way as the previous one.
  • 10 row: in this row we use yarn of a different color. In our case it is white. Knit around the circumference of Art. without n. and finish as usual. Art. We do not make additions.
  • 11 row: we knit it with white threads. In total, we have 2 rows knitted with white yarn.

  • 12 row: from this row we knit the handles of our basket. The sequence is this - we knit 2 air. p., 10 tbsp. with n., 5 air. p., skip 7 loops, 17 tbsp. with n., 5 air. p., skip 7 loops and knit st. from n. to the end of the row, ending the connection. Art.

  • 13 row: 2 air. lifting, we tie in a circle st. from n. A chain of 5 air. we tie 7 tbsp. from n. As a result of painstaking work, we got such a cute little thing

At the end of the work, sew up all the free ends of the yarn.
